We’re seeking an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead the delivery of mechanical building services across complex projects in Manchester and the wider region. This senior role combines technical leadership, client engagement, multi-disciplinary coordination, and team development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead mechanical design delivery on multi-disciplinary projects
     
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships
     
  • Oversee project briefs, technical outcomes, programmes and commercial performance
     
  • Represent mechanical discipline at client meetings and design reviews
     
  • Mentor and develop regional engineering teams
     
  • Monitor progress, resources, expenditure and ensure quality and compliance
     

Requirements:

  • Proven experience delivering mechanical engineering solutions for complex buildings

You’ll be at the forefront of complex, high-value projects across sectors such as science & research, healthcare and advanced commercial environments. Alongside project leadership, you’ll influence regional strategy, support business growth and play a vital role in shaping the future direction of the office.


What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading major multi-disciplinary projects and acting as the primary client contact
     
  • Driving work-winning activities, supporting bids and securing new opportunities
     
  • Providing senior leadership across the electrical discipline and promoting technical excellence
     
  • Overseeing project profitability, performance metrics and resource planning
     
  • Representing the team at senior client, partner and industry meetings
     
  • Building and developing a motivated, high-performing engineering team

About You

  • Chartered engineer with substantial experience at principal/senior level or above

  • Calm, solution-focused approach to handling challenging situations
